Run for Council

The AJET Council is a group of peers who work together to organize events and sports teams, expand our community outreach, and keep all JETs up-to-date with the happenings in Nara. Without an AJET Council, life in Nara would be a lot more boring and difficult for everyone. Help the council continue its legacy by running for a position(s). Take a look at the various positions below to find your perfect role! Elections open every May.

Executive Team

President

  • Oversees all Nara AJET projects and ensures events, projects, and fundraising operate smoothly.​

  • Conducts the monthly council meeting by creating the agenda and managing the meeting by keeping everyone on task and encouraging productive input from all members.

  • Represents Nara AJET at Block Meetings and National AJET events.

Secretary

  • Assists the president during the monthly meetings by recording minutes and affirming that no points on the agenda have been missed.

  • Assigns and manages tasks among council members.

  • Administrates events by designating leadership roles, dispatching surveys and collecting participant feedback, and writing event reports to aid future planning.

Treasurer.png

Treasurer

  • Monitors the Nara AJET budget, bank accounts, and monetary transactions, including reimbursements.

  • Maintains transaction records and reports finances.

  • Assists Scholarship Chair in maximizing scholarship funds. 

Events & Communications Team

Webmaster.png

Webmaster & Communications Chair

  • Monitors and manages Nara AJET’s social media accounts.

  • Creates and updates pages for the Nara AJET website, and edits the monthly Nara AJET newsletter.

  • Facilitates and creates content for online events.

PR Coordinator.png

Events Coordinator

  • Ensures that there’s at least one AJET event per month and schedules, plans, and organizes these events.

  • Creates event pages and advertises via social media and email.

Council Support Team

Japanese.png

Japanese Liaison:

  • Works with other council members for events and provides Japanese assistance where required (eg., making reservations, confirming/updating bookings, etc.)

  •  Helps facilitate outreach to the Japanese community.

Sports Liaison.png

Sports Liaison:

  • Liaises with the Ultimate Frisbee team and keeps the Council updated on their events and membership.

  • Provides support when necessary to the Events & Communications Team, especially when arranging sports-related events

Community Outreach

Scholarship.png

Scholarship Chair:

  • Manages the Nara AJET Scholarship by distributing information, advertising the scholarship, facilitating the selection of a winner, and running fundraisers.
